The Contemporary artist Philippe Shangti represents Andorra at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019.

The Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious and oldest contemporary art events in the world, receives each edition several hundred thousand visitors from all over the world to admire the different exhibitions divided into pavilions, each representing a participating country.

Resident of the Principality of Andorra since 2016, the artist Philippe Shangti, has installed there all his workshops and studios, as well as the offices of his team working daily at his side.

In 2018 (he was 35 years old at the time), he was selected through an internal competition by the Andorran authorities to represent the Principality of Andorra at the 58th edition of the Venice Biennale, taking place from May 11th to November 24th 2019. A real consecration for the artist, for the whole of his work and his career.

His project was selected both for its avant-gardism and the power of the message it conveys. Indeed, his exhibition, which was a success at this Biennial, is called “The Future is Now”. Its goal is to awaken consciences, to shake up our lives and our habits in order to realize the dramatic situation in which the planet, as well as the different human societies, find themselves today.
